Olympia: Faith Kipyegon brings another 1500-M gold - Sifan Hassan missed triple chance
The Dutchman Sifan Hassan failed in Tokyo in her triple gold mission. Over 1500 m, the 28-year-old had to settle for the impressive triumph of the Kenyan Faith Kipyegon with bronze. Over 5000 m, the native Ethiopier Hassan had scored on Monday, on Saturday (12.45 clock MESZ) she starts over 10,000 m.
Kipyegon, who had already brought in Rio Gold in 2016, ran after a dream final round in 3: 53.11 minutes an Olympic record. Silver went to Britin Laura Muir (3: 54.50). Hassan (3: 55.86), which was influenced at the top in the last round, finally went the forces in a brutally fast race.
Three individual wins in an Olympic edition has so far only reached the Dutchman Fanny Blankers-Koen in 1948 in London (100 and 200 m and 80 m hurdles). The double of 1500 and 5000 m or the predecessor distance 3000 m (until 1992) has not done a runner.
